How it works
Create a named discount in Outlet settings
Give it a name that reads well on a receipt ("Festive 10% off", "Flat 50 off"), pick Percentage or Flat amount, and set the value — a percentage (capped at 100) or a rupee amount.
Toggle it active when the promo is on
Only active discounts can be applied to a bill. Turn one off to retire a past promotion without deleting its history — the bills it was already applied to keep it.
Apply it from the billing screen in one tap
On a bill, tap Apply next to Discount, pick one of your active discounts (or No discount to clear it), and the total updates immediately. Cashiers and waiters can apply; only admins manage the definitions.
Tax lands on the right number, everywhere
Tax is computed on the post-discount amount, matching what you actually charge, and the discount line shows consistently on the billing screen, the customer's digital bill, and both printed and thermal receipts.
Why it matters
Just about every POS can knock a discount off a bill — that part is table stakes. What actually bites a restaurant is the fine print: whether a basic promo is locked behind a paid tier, whether GST is charged on the pre- or post-discount amount, and whether editing a discount next month quietly rewrites the totals on bills you already closed. Biller's discounts are free, tax computes on the discounted amount you really charge, and each applied discount is snapshot-locked onto its bill — so your past bills, and your accounts, stay honest.
The honest edges
- Whole-bill only, for now. A discount applies to the whole bill — there's no per-item discount today.
- Admins own the definitions. Cashiers and waiters can apply an active discount at billing, but creating, editing or deleting the discounts themselves is admin-only.
- It can't go negative. An oversized percentage or flat amount is capped at the bill's subtotal — a discount never takes a bill below ₹0.

Percentage or flat — which does Biller support?
Both. A discount is either a percentage off the whole bill (e.g. 10%, capped at 100) or a flat rupee amount off (e.g. ₹50). Discounts apply to the whole bill; there is no per-item discount today.
Is the tax right after a discount?
Yes. Tax is computed on the post-discount amount, not the original subtotal — so the GST on the bill matches the total the customer actually pays.
If I edit a discount later, does it change old bills?
No — and this matters for your accounts. A discount is locked onto a bill the moment it is applied. Editing or deleting the discount definition afterwards never retroactively changes a past bill's total.
Can a discount make a bill go negative?
