Setting up online payments
Online payments let diners pay a bill from a link you send on WhatsApp. The money goes to your bank account, usually in 2 working days. Razorpay runs the payments and its fee applies to each online payment. Only the owner sets this up.
Where to start
Go to Money, open Payments and tap Online payments, or the Set up online payments card. Online payments are switched on outlet by outlet; if you see neither, they are not available for your outlet yet.
Step 1 and 2: business and PAN
Biller fills your business name, phone and address from your outlet profile. Check them against your PAN, add your email, city, PIN code and state, then enter the PAN of the owner or the business and the name on it. Razorpay checks the PAN with the Income Tax department. Biller keeps only the last 4 characters. Tap Continue to bank check.
Step 3 and 4: bank check and terms
You confirm your bank account by paying yourself ₹1 by UPI. On a phone, tap Pay ₹1 with UPI app. On a computer, scan the code with GPay, PhonePe, Paytm or any UPI app. Biller reads the account number, IFSC and holder name from that payment, so you type nothing, and the ₹1 comes back to you straight away. The page moves on by itself and shows the account it found.
If the check is not available, or you prefer, tap Type bank details instead and enter the account number, IFSC and the holder name.
Tick the terms, then tap Submit to Razorpay. You can take up to ₹50,000 online before Razorpay asks for address and business proof.
After you submit
The status page shows Under review while Razorpay checks your details. Once they approve, it shows Live.
- Take payments online is the switch. On means Finish offers the UPI QR and the Pay link, and diners can pay due bills online. Off stops all of it.
- Documents pending appears while Razorpay still needs address proof and one business proof (GST, Udyam or shop licence). Payments stop at the limit until you upload them.
- Paid into shows your bank, the end of the account number and the IFSC. To change the account, contact Biller support.
