Adding a customer to a bill
You can name the customer while the bill is still open, so the bill you hand over before they pay already carries their details. The details also carry into Finish, so nobody types them twice.
Add them
- Open the bill. In the bill's header, next to the three-dot menu, tap + Customer.
- Type their phone or email. If they have been here before, their name appears as a suggestion under the box; tap it and the name and GSTIN fill in by themselves.
- Type their name. A name alone is fine when they would rather not share a number.
- Add a GSTIN only if they want a tax invoice in their business name. Biller checks the 15 characters and refuses one that cannot be right.
- Need more? + Address adds an address and state, + Birthday adds a day and month (like 12-25, no year).
- Tap Save to bill.
Once saved, the chip reads Name · phone. Tap it again to correct anything.
What it does
- The Bill you print before Finish has a Customer: line with the name and mobile number, so the customer sees who it is for. On a phone the header chip shows the name only, to leave room for the bill title.
- Finish opens with the customer already on the bill, as one line with Edit.
- A customer with a mobile number can be sent a pay link on WhatsApp, and can be given Pay later (khata) without you asking for the number again.
Good to know
- A half-typed number is refused, not saved. Biller would rather ask than start a second record for someone who already has one.
- Adding a customer never blocks a bill. Closing the sheet without saving leaves the bill exactly as it was.
- You can do this on any open bill. Once a bill is finished, edit its customer from the finished bill instead.
