Collecting Customer Feedback After a Bill: What Biller.app Actually Captures
Published
A bill shared on WhatsApp can bring back more than a payment record: customers can open its Biller.app link and leave a star rating.

That customer feedback belongs to the bill. It is separate from the admin Feedback screen, where staff report bugs and request features from Biller.app support.
Here is what the customer flow actually captures, how the WhatsApp handoff works, and where the limits sit. These details follow the bill-sharing help and the current customer bill implementation.
How does a customer reach the feedback form after a bill?
Take a simple example: a customer pays ₹250 for lunch and asks for the receipt on WhatsApp. Your team shares the digital bill, and the customer opens the bill link in that message.
The hosted bill page includes the feedback controls alongside the bill details. Customers choose a star rating there. They do not need to type a rating into the WhatsApp chat for this flow.
The making a bill guide documents the sharing steps. Once a bill is completed, the available actions include Show QR, Send on WhatsApp, and Print.
Show QR gives another route to the digital bill. For an owner explaining the process across the counter, the instruction is simple: open your bill link and tap a star.
Does Biller.app automatically send a WhatsApp survey after payment?
The verified flow starts with a staff action. Entering a customer mobile number in the Finish sheet can change the main action to Finish & send on WhatsApp.
That action completes the bill and hands the receipt sharing over to WhatsApp or the device share flow. Staff still need to complete the send in that flow.
For example, finishing a ₹480 takeaway bill and opening WhatsApp does not prove the customer received the message. Check the sharing step instead of treating the button tap as a delivery receipt.
The receipt can travel as an image with the hosted bill link in its message when the device supports file sharing. On other devices, the image is saved and WhatsApp opens with the message and link.
In that fallback, staff may need to attach the saved image themselves. A link-only sharing path also exists, so do not assume every customer receives an attached receipt image.
The useful part for feedback is the hosted bill link. The printing and digital receipt guide explains WhatsApp bill links and the customer bill page.
What rating can the customer submit on the digital bill?
The customer page asks How was the food? and offers five stars. Tapping a star submits that selected rating, from one to five.
After a successful submission, the page shows Feedback Submitted! The normal page then prevents another star submission, and reopening the bill restores the saved rating.
Suppose someone buys a ₹180 meal and selects four stars. What is captured is one overall rating against that bill, rather than a separate score for each dish.
Do not read four stars as four stars for the dosa, service, packing, and price individually. The rating control does not ask those separate questions.
The wording is also worth knowing if you run a shop. Biller.app supports restaurants and shops, but this verified customer feedback prompt is food-specific.
When can a customer explain what went wrong?
Once a customer successfully submits one or two stars, the page reveals an additional text box asking what went wrong. Three, four, and five stars do not reveal that box in this flow.
For example, a customer could rate a ₹320 food order two stars and write that the food arrived cold. That sentence is an illustrative example, not an actual customer quote.
The Submit Feedback button stays disabled until the text contains at least five characters after spaces at the ends are removed. The customer must tap it to submit the written feedback.
After a successful text submission, the button reads Done! If the text request fails, the page shows an error and offers Try Again.
This is a conditional explanation box, rather than an open comment box shown to everyone. If you want comments from a happy customer, ask them directly instead of promising that field appears after five stars.
What feedback data does Biller.app save against the bill?
The bill stores a star value in feedbackStars and written feedback in feedbackText. These are the two feedback fields confirmed in the customer submission flow.
The bill code connects each submission to its bill. For a ₹650 family meal, this means the saved rating can be read with that sale's details.
A rating and a written explanation are separate submissions. A customer can finish the star step without sending text, so a low score does not guarantee a written reason.
The customer page uses the bill link and code to load the bill and submit feedback. This flow does not require a separate customer sign-in.
Treat the link with that in mind when forwarding it. Access depends on possessing the bill link, rather than proving that the person opening it is the named customer.
For staff, the practical point is to distinguish a saved score from an explanation you inferred. Two stars show dissatisfaction; they do not, by themselves, identify which item or interaction caused it.
Where can the owner see feedback from a customer?
The finished bill view displays stored customer stars and written feedback when present. The billing side bar also shows a saved star rating beside the bill.
For example, when checking a ₹420 sale, open that finished bill to read the feedback with its details. The stored comment gives more context than the stars alone.
That is the viewing behavior confirmed in the current implementation. This guide does not promise a separate feedback dashboard, a new-feedback alert, or an automatic reply to the customer.
Make checking feedback a staff habit that suits your outlet. Reading a low score is useful, but deciding how to respond still needs a person who understands the sale.
Is this the same as Feedback in the admin side bar?
No. A customer rating a ₹250 lunch uses the digital bill page. A cashier reporting an app problem uses the separate admin Feedback screen.
The staff Feedback guide describes bug reports and feature requests from signed-in team members. Its Open and Closed tabs track those support submissions.
That staff channel has an outlet daily submission limit, and submissions are shared with the outlet team. Only the outlet's own submissions appear there.
Its support conversation shows replies explicitly shared with the outlet. Resolution notifications use the existing app channel, including push if enabled, and its guided tour can be replayed.
Those rules describe staff-to-support feedback. They should not be presented as customer rating limits, customer reply threads, or customer-feedback notification promises.
How should an outlet use bill feedback without overreading it?
Imagine a ₹290 order receives two stars and a short note about packing. Read the bill, understand the note, and speak with the team who handled that order.
A practical routine is to check the WhatsApp handoff, explain the bill link, and review feedback on completed bills. Keep any follow-up personal and relevant to what the customer actually said.
The rating is one overall response, with extra text offered for low scores. It does not establish separate service scores, per-item reviews, or a public review posted elsewhere.

What do owners ask about customer bill feedback?
Can customers leave feedback after receiving a bill on WhatsApp?
Yes. They open the hosted bill link and submit a one-to-five-star rating on the customer bill page.
Can every customer leave a written comment?
The current page shows the text box after a submitted one- or two-star rating. Its submit button needs at least five trimmed characters.
Does a WhatsApp reply become feedback on the bill?
The verified feedback flow captures submissions from the bill page. Do not assume a message typed into WhatsApp is saved as the bill's feedback text.
Can I read a customer's rating with their bill?
Yes. Stored stars and text appear in the finished bill view when present, and the billing side bar shows a saved star rating.
Who this is for: single-counter to multi-outlet SMBs in India, including restaurants and shops. Biller.app is free to start — 510 Biller credits once, no card. A plain bill costs one credit, and credits never expire.
